Atlantex Power offers one of the cheapest Free Weekends plans on the market. Its weekday energy rates are usually lower than those of many other companies, which makes this plan a strong option, especially for apartment users who want to try a Free Weekends plan. The free window usually starts at 10:00 PM on Friday and ends at 9:00 AM on Sunday.
The tradeoff is that the plan still charges TDU delivery fees during the weekend. That is the price you pay for having a lower energy rate during the weekday. Another major advantage is that Atlantex Power does not charge a base fee, which is excellent news for low-usage customers.

Infuse Energy, like its sibling company Revolution Energy, offers a competitive Free Weekends plan with a truly free weekend structure. However, its energy rates are usually higher than Atlantex Power’s, often by around 20% to 30%. This plan also includes a base charge of about $4 per month, which is relatively small compared with other similar plans. he free-hours window usually runs from 8:00 PM on Friday to 5:59 AM on Monday.

Difference Between Both Plans

The biggest difference between these two plans is that Atlantex charges TDU delivery fees during the free window, while Infuse Energy does not. In exchange, Atlantex usually offers lower weekday energy rates and no base charge. The free-hour schedules are also slightly different, but they are still close enough to allow a fair comparison, with only a small uncertainty of around 5%.
That means we can compare both plans by looking at how the effective rate changes depending on how much electricity you are able to shift into the free-hours window each week.

The source of the Infuse Energy data is the Infuse Energy website. On the other hand, Clear Energy Facts has an exclusive rate with Atlantex Power, and the rate used in this comparison is only available if you use the promo code CLEARENERGYFACTS on the Atlantex Power website.
This comparison reflects rates for the Dallas (Oncor) area for terms between 12 and 24 months. The price gap between these two plans remains relatively consistent across other term lengths and service areas.

Atlantex vs Infuse (Free Window %)

This chart is dynamic, and you can change the usage filter in the top-right corner. For the filter selection, use 500 kWh or 1,000 kWh if you live in an apartment. Use 1,000 kWh and 2,000 kWh for medium to large houses, and 2,000 kWh to 3,000 kWh for very large houses.

  • This graph shows the effective rate you would pay under each plan depending on what percentage of your electricity usage you can shift into the free-hours window. It includes all costs during both the free and paid periods, so it provides a fair comparison between the two plans.
  • Although the free-hours schedules are not exactly the same, the total number of free hours is very similar. To read the graph correctly, you first need to estimate your household’s total electricity usage. That is why the graph includes a filter for 500 / 1000 / 2000 / 3000 kWh. The point where one plan becomes better than the other changes depending on that usage level.

Bill Estimation Based on Your Free-Window Usage

Similar to the chart above, the table below shows your estimated bill based on two parameters: the percentage of your usage that falls within the free window, and your total usage (you can change this with the filter at the top right). These two parameters allow you to make a fair comparison between the two plans, even though they differ in how they charge during the free window. For an apartment or a medium-sized house, the fairest filter to use is 1,000 kWh, as explained in the chart.

Best Household for Atlantex Power

The main advantage Atlantex Power has over Infuse is that its weekday energy rate is lower, which gives you more cushion if you fail to shift more than 50% of your electricity usage into the weekend. For example, even if you shift only 40%, the effective rate can still be very similar to that of a competitive fixed plan.
That said, shifting 40% of your electricity usage into the weekend is not easy. That is why it is so important to be willing to adjust your usage habits.
With that in mind, Atlantex Power is the safer option for a wider range of households, including apartments, small homes, and larger homes, because it gives you some protection if you are not able to move more than 50% of your electricity usage into the weekend.

Best Household for Infuse Energy’s Plan

Truly Free Weekends plans usually have much higher weekday rates, which makes them difficult to justify if you cannot shift more than 50% of your usage into the weekend. Even though this plan is usually one of the best in its category, it is still very difficult for most households to move more than 50% of their electricity usage into the weekend.
There are a few exceptions: very disciplined households that do not mind setting the thermostat above 76°F during the day and around 73°F at night, or people who are away from home during the week and mainly use electricity on the weekend. In situations like these, where more than 50% of total usage can realistically fall on the weekend, Infuse Energy’s plan can be the better option.

Final Summary

At the end of the day, the best plan depends on your usage. The most important question is not which plan looks better on paper, but how much electricity your household can realistically shift into the free-hours window.
Atlantex Power is usually the safer choice for a wider range of users because its weekday rates are more forgiving. Infuse Energy can deliver more upside, but only for households that can move a very large share of their usage into the weekend.
