We created Clear Energy Facts with one goal: to bring transparency, simplicity, and trust to the electricity marketplace in Texas. After experiencing first-hand how confusing and misleading some plans can be, we decided to build a platform that empowers people — not providers.

We believe every Texan deserves clear and honest information before signing up for an electricity plan. Our mission is to build the most unbiased, data-driven comparison tool in Texas, one that puts users first, labels plans truthfully, and always shows the full picture.
My Story
Electronic engineer with a master's in computer science from Texas A&M. I moved from Venezuela in 2013 and I work in the oil and gas industry, most of that time on projects in the Gulf of Mexico. When I moved to Houston in 2022, I signed up for a usage credit plan in our deregulated market. I thought staying between 1,000 and 2,000 kWh would be easy, but it was not. I was tricked by the way that plan was presented, and I am not the only one. Thousands of Texans sign up for the same structure every year without knowing how hard it is to keep usage within a set band in a seasonal state like Texas. After that I decided to change it. That is why I started Clear Energy Facts.
Texas received me with open arms and it is where my children will build their lives. This site is my way of contributing to the society I live in. Everything here comes from the same public sources anyone can check, the Electricity Facts Labels, the TDU tariffs filed with the PUCT, and ERCOT data. Clear Energy Facts does not sell electricity and is not owned by a retail provider. This website puts people first and helps you find the best plan for your situation. If you do not know all the details of your usage, no problem. We will guide you and highlight True Fixed plans without any tricks.
