Upload your Smart Meter Texas interval CSV, measure how much of your electricity usage falls inside the free window, and estimate whether your home's usage pattern can outperform competitive True Fixed plans.
To start the analysis, we need your ZIP code (to find rates and TDU that apply to your area), the contract term range you want (12-23, 24-35, or 36+ months), and the CSV file downloaded from Smart Meter Texas with your interval usage data.
Enter ZIP first. We use this to identify the correct TDU zone.
Select the term range you want to evaluate before plan matching.
This step is locked until ZIP, TDU, and term range are confirmed.
Privacy note: Your Smart Meter Texas CSV may contain detailed electricity usage information. We use this file only to calculate your Free Nights analysis. We do not sell your usage data, use it for advertising, or share your uploaded CSV with electricity providers.

Step-by-step Guide
To compare Free Nights electricity plans, you first need your Smart Meter Texas usage file. This file shows your electricity usage in 15-minute intervals, which helps estimate how much energy you use during the free-night window.
Go directly to SmartMeterTexas.com and log in with your username and password.
If you do not have an account yet, you will need to create one first. Most Texas homes already have a smart meter, so most users should be able to access this data.
This generates a CSV file. If you have a full year of data, the file may be around 3 MB. If you recently moved into your home or apartment, your file may be smaller because there is less usage history available.
Next, go to ClearEnergyFacts.com and open: Tools → Free Night Calculator.
Now you can check your real daily electricity usage and compare it against Free Nights electricity plans. This helps you decide whether a Free Nights plan is actually a good option for your home based on your real usage data, not just advertised rates.
About this calculator / methodology / disclaimer
The Free Nights Calculator was developed by Clear Energy Facts to help Texas electricity customers better understand whether a Free Nights plan may work for their home.
This tool uses your Smart Meter Texas interval data to estimate how much of your electricity usage happens during the free-night window and compares that result against competitive True Fixed electricity plans.
Our goal is to bring more transparency to Texas electricity plans and help customers make better decisions using real usage data instead of advertised rates alone.
The calculator analyzes your 15-minute Smart Meter Texas usage file and groups your electricity consumption into free-window and non-free-window periods based on the selected Free Nights plan.
It then compares the estimated cost of the Free Nights plan against a competitive True Fixed plan available in the market. The result is intended to show whether your current usage pattern is strong enough to make the Free Nights plan competitive.
This tool is an estimate, not a guarantee. Final bills can vary based on provider rules, TDU delivery charges, base charges, taxes, fees, contract terms, and changes in electricity pricing.
