Trieagle Energy Review and Ratings

Last updated:

Read our Trieagle Energy Review and Ratings. Trieagle Energy currently holds a Clear Energy Facts Score of 2.5 out of 5, ranking #36 out of 42. We evaluate plan quality, pricing transparency, and customer service.

TriEagle Energy is headquartered in Texas and has provided electricity plans in the state for nearly 20 years. It serves deregulated regions across Texas with fixed-rate electricity options.

Trieagle Energy: What we like

  1. BBB-accredited with an A+ rating: TriEagle Energy is a BBB Accredited Business and maintains an A+ rating.
  2. Positive trend in Google reviews: Google reviews have improved over the last year, with a current average rating around 4 stars. Recent reviews are predominantly positive, often highlighting responsive customer service and consistent, predictable bills.

Trieagle Energy: What we don’t like

  1. Different prices via Google Ads vs. main website: Rates shown when clicking a Google ad can be higher than the prices listed on TriEagle’s regular website, sometimes by as much as 1¢ per kWh. For a typical Texas home using around 2,000 kWh per month, that difference can mean about $20 more on the monthly bill, even though it’s the same company and similar plan.
  2. “All-in rate” can be confusing: TriEagle promotes a single rate that includes both the energy charge and TDU delivery fees. While this sounds simple, some customers may think the price can never change. In reality, if TDU delivery charges increase, the total price can still go up.
  3. Limited bill breakdown: We prefer seeing energy charges and TDU delivery charges listed separately. This helps customers clearly understand which part of the bill is truly fixed and which part can change due to regulated delivery fees.
  4. Phone payment fee: A $3.95 fee may applies when making a payment with a live phone agent. Customers can avoid this fee by paying online, using the automated phone system, or mailing a payment.

Transparency Review in Detail

1.0 /5.0

Transparency

Ranked #38 of 42 companies

TriEagle Energy obtains a mid-level transparency score because they maintain multiple landing pages that appear in Google search results, and the prices shown on those pages can differ from the rates listed on their main website. This inconsistency can make it harder for customers to feel confident that the price they are seeing is the best available option, since the final rate may change depending on which link they click.

Customer Service Review in Detail

3.0 /5.0

PUCT complaint record

Ranked #14 of 42 companies

In this section we focus on the company’s customer service, using the official complaint data from the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT).

1. PUCT scorecard rating. This score shows how this provider compares to other Texas electricity companies based on the number of customer complaints the PUCT receives about them.

2. What the PUCT scorecard means. The PUCT publishes a scorecard that rates Retail Electric Providers based on their complaint history. It compares a company's market share to its share of complaints filed with the state. Companies that resolve issues before customers feel the need to contact the PUCT receive higher ratings (5 Power Circles), while companies that frequently force customers to escalate issues receive lower ratings.

If a company does not have a PUCT rating (or we show “No rating”), it usually means there is not enough historical data for the PUCT to calculate a score. This typically happens when a company is new to the market or has a customer base too small to be statistically compared to larger providers.
